DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY AND IMAGING: Week 10

After finishing with the design stuff, we started to learn the new stuff of how to create the animation video of the poster in Adobe After Effect. As the exercise, Mr. Fauzi has uploaded one of the materials in a photoshop file for us to practice by following the demo video. There is the basic editing only that we did in this exercise by using the transform feature to create the movement.

As the first step, we need to create the new composition with the setting 1080px x 1920px in 15 seconds as the duration. Then, import the Photoshop file into the project timeline. All of the photoshop layers will be there as in the photoshop. Besides the transform, the keyframe and masking are also important to work together with the transform feature. The typewriter as the first layer will be masked and continued by using the keyframe in Mask Path to make the movement from bottom to top. It goes the same with the fencer by moving it from the same way. Then, the shark has to adjust the position feature from right to the left and adjust the scale from 50% to 100% when it appears. And, the settings of the typewriter are applied for the projector by using the Mask Path to make it appears from left to the right.

In the last part, we can duplicate the texture layer and move the order after the projector layer in the timeline. Next, create the mask in the ellipse tool and adjust the anchor point in the center and the position to the behind of the projector. To make it loop, select the layer and create the rotation keyframe in the first second in 0x to the 2x in the last second. Then, adjust the opacity of the background layer to 73% to blend it with the ellipse layer. Finally, export the file to the MOV format by clicking File > Export > Add to media queue.
