DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY AND IMAGING: Week 7

Continuing the previous week's task, it is still related with the re-colouring black & white picture as our Project 2A. There are two pictures that we need to re-colour it with a different steps from last week as the Part 2. The 'Select & Mask' is the main features in this task to create a smooth selection on the object. In this task, Mr Fauzi also provide us two pictures as the source for the hair colour and skin tone for the first picture only. Meanwhile, we need to find another pictures that match with the second picture.

The first step of this re-colouring is using the Quick Selection Tool for the hair part and proceed to the Select & Mask. Then, switch the view to overlay and use the Refine Edge Brush Tool to draw some part out of the hair. After that, I chose the output as the Layer Mask in a new solid layer of the hair colour from Mr Fauzi's pictures.

1.1 Hair colour

1.2 Skin tone

As the final, change the blending mode of new solid layer into the Soft Light. And, repeat all of the steps for the others part like eyes, lips, body, face, etc.

1.4 Before - After

Next, I chose the man picture as the second pictures to do the re-colouring. It is quite challenging to find the source of skin tone, while for the shirt and pants is definitely the denim colour.

2.1 Skin tone

2.2 Shirt and pants colour

After through some pictures, the two pictures above is the most closest of my imagination for the second picture. As the first step, I just repeat the step from the first picture to re-colouring each part of the face and the clothes. There is one only that I didn't put the colour which is the hair as I think the black colour is the basic colour for some of the men.
